Nicholas Ramos (Nick) is the Director of Environmental Affairs at Bridgestone Americas, Inc (BSAM) with 27 years of environmental and automotive manufacturing experience. As a member of the BSAM EHSS Organization, Nick is responsible to provide environmental leadership by designing, developing and executing organizational strategies for excellence in environmental compliance, performance and reputation. Nick works closely with stakeholders to drive environmental teamwork and tools across Bridgestone’s global presence through collaboration to develop strategically appropriate standards, methodology and communications.
Prior to joining Bridgestone in 2019, Nick worked at General Motors for 23 years where he held numerous positions with increasing responsibilities. At General Motors, Nick was the Manager of Environmental Policy where he was responsible for environmental and regulatory development impacting the company’s manufacturing operations. Additionally, Nick provided oversight of environmental compliance programs of global operations and represented the company’s interests with key trade and industry associations like the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Michigan Manufactures Association and Automotive Industry Forum. He was an environmental group manager from 2013 to 2016 and was responsible for multi-media compliance at the company’s manufacturing facilities. Nick also worked as an air permitting engineer from 2006 to 2013, providing technical environmental support to manufacturing sites in the U.S., Mexico, South Africa and South America.
Nick holds a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial and environmental health management (Hazardous Waste Management) from Ferris State University, a Master of Business Administration from Davenport University and is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
