TVA IRP Public Webinar

June 5 @ 11:00 am - 11:45 am EDT

Event Navigation

On June 5 from 11:00 AM to 11:45AM EST, TVA will host a public webinar with updates on its 2019 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) and accompanying Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The IRP and EIS will be released on June 28. Webinar participants will need to pre-register here in order to get additional information about how to join the webinar.

During the webinar, TVA will provide:

  • An overview of comments received during the public comment period, which ran from Feb. 15 to April 8, 2019,
  • Highlights of additional computer modeling completed in response to public comments, and
  • A review of next steps to finalize the IRP recommendation.

TVA’s 2019 IRP is a comprehensive study that provides direction on how TVA can best meet future demand for power. The IRP will help shape TVA’s power-generation system and offer direction on how TVA provides low-cost, reliable electricity; supports environmental stewardship; and fosters economic development in the Tennessee Valley for the next 20 years. Per the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), TVA has prepared an EIS to analyze the 2019 IRP’s potential impacts on the environment, economy and population in the Tennessee Valley.

TVA will make the IRP and final EIS, which will include the recommendation, available to the public for at least 30 days before it is presented to the TVA Board of Directors for approval. TVA will request approval of the IRP Recommendation from the Board in August 2019. Once approved, a Record of Decision will be published.

TVA plans to record the webinar and make it available on its IRP website. Please pre-register for the webinar if you plan to attend. For more information, visit TVA’s IRP website at tva.com/irp.
